International reggae act Katchafire will headline the list of guest artists performing this year at the Waiata Maori Music Awards Ceremony.
And the Queen of Loops, Mihirangi Fleming is also among the guest artists to perform at the awards ceremony. Mihirangi also appears as a finalist.
I think as an artist you always have career highlights that you can look back on and give yourself a little pat on the back, those gigs that help you gage your achievements, this is definitely one of my dreams come true, especially playing to my own people.”
Sydney-based pop trio Young Men Society (YMS) will also make its first appearance as a guest performer this year. They rose to fame as grand finalists on the third series of The X-Factor Australia in 2011. The group later signed a recording contract with Sony Music Australia. Young Men Society released their debut single “We Own the Night” in March 2012, which reached the top thirty in New Zealand.
National Waiata Maori Music Awards ambassador, Taisha Tari, will also perform at the awards this year.
We wish all nominees and finalists the very best for the awards on Friday evening!
